Distinguish the ID and AR unsafe categories from a safe standards shortfall recorded separately.

An assessment leads to two GIUSP unsafe categories: ID, immediate danger if left connected to gas, and AR, potential danger. A separate panel describes a safe standards shortfall recorded outside GIUSP, sometimes called NCS. Assess interacting faults and seek competent guidance if unsure. Start with the findings and assess the actual danger, including interacting defects. Seek competent guidance immediately if the issue is beyond your competence.

The two coloured cards are the GIUSP unsafe categories: ID for immediate danger if left connected to gas, and AR for potential danger. The separate lower panel describes an assessed safe standards shortfall. A business may record that as NCS, outside the unsafe categories.

The diagram is a classification aid, not a complete action sequence. For an unresolved ID condition, seek permission to disconnect and seal the supply, complete the warnings and follow the fuel-specific refusal route if needed.

For AR, distinguish a risk removed by turning off from a specified installation defect where turn-off cannot reduce the risk. The latter needs the appropriate warning and referral, without a danger/do-not-use label. A label is not itself a repair.

Do not classify from appliance age, customer preference or one reassuring test result. Establish the real condition and follow the current procedure.
